A helicopter tour to Everest Base Camp is a luxury way of traveling in the Khumbu region (Everest region). The heli tour to Everest Base Camp is designed to offer comfort and luxury in one of the most extreme locations on Earth.

Views during the Everest Base Camp Heli Tour

Everest Base Camp Helicopter Tour offers dramatic aerial views of some of the majestic eight-thousanders like Everest (8,848 m), Lhotse (8,516 m), Makalu (8,463 m), Cho Oyu (8,188 m), and Kanchenjunga (8,586 m). The flight also presents stretching views of lush green hills, verdant valleys, rivers, and villages. You will see outstanding views of glaciers and moraines.

Snow-capped mountains like Ama Dablam (6,812 m), Island Peak (6,160 m), Pumori (7,161 m), Kongde Ri (6,187 m), Baruntse (7,162 m), and many other peaks are seen during the Everest Base Camp helicopter tour flight.

Everest Base Camp Helicopter Tour Flight Landing Sites

Our Everest Base Camp Helicopter Tour itinerary has multiple short landings at different places. This makes the Everest helicopter tour package even more fantastic and impressive. We aim to provide as close, immersive journey as possible through our Everest helicopter flight tour.

And to do so, our team has decided to include two major landings, one at Everest Base Camp (5,364 m) or Kala Patthar (5,644 m) and another at Hotel Everest View (3,962 m). Apart from these two places, you will land at Lukla (2,860 m) for 10-15 minutes for refueling.

There might not be enough landing space at the Everest Base Camp (5,364 m), so we land at Kala Patthar which is at 4,644 meters. Moreover, Kala Patthar offers a better mountain panorama than EBC with a spectacular view of Mt. Everest.

The landing will be short. You cannot stay at that high elevation for more than 10 minutes or you may suffer from altitude sickness. 10 minutes is enough to quickly look around, soak in the soothing air and jaw-dropping views of the Himalayan mountains.

Itinerary

One of our team representatives will receive you from your hotel and drop you at the domestic airport. We'll provide you with the contact details of our team, who'll be responsible for your pickup & drop during the booking.

After all the participants arrive at the airport, we begin a short flight instruction briefing. The instructor will go through important guidelines and safety measures. You then meet with the captain. Ask all your questions without any hesitations.

Our first stop is Lukla airport, where we land for 10-15 minutes to refuel the shuttle before flying further. The flight from Kathmandu takes off, and gradually flies over stunning green hills & the snow-capped mountains begin to uncover themselves in front of us. Mountains like Gaurishankar, Ganesh Himal, Langtang Lirung, Pumori, Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Nuptse, Shishapangma, etc, are seen at this part of the flight.

      • 2,860 m
      • 45 minutes

rom Lukla airport, we take off and fly above beautiful Sherpa villages and lush green hills. As the flight progresses, we begin to see close views of giant Himalayan mountains, including Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Cho Oyu, Makalu, Island Peak, Baurntse, Pumori, and numerous others.

*Note: Landing at Kala Patthar above 220 kgs is prohibited. Therefore, if we have more than 3 participants in the group, we may get an extra shuttle at Pheriche and continue our flight to Kala Patthar.

      • 5,644 m
      • 15 minutes

We land at Kala Patthar for 10 minutes. As our body is unadapted to these sudden dramatic changes in elevation, staying at Kala Patthar for more than 10 minutes can lead to acute mountain sickness (altitude sickness).

Another big reason for a short layover is the engine of the helicopter that can not be turned off. Because of high elevation, wind & thin air, once the captain turns off the engine, it cannot be restarted.

      • 10 minutes

fter a short stopover at Kala Patthar, the helicopter descends to Syangboche Airstrip. Just a few hundred meters above Syangboche is Hotel Everest View (3,962 m), where you'll have a delicious breakfast. The descending flight will be mesmerizing and offers a breathtaking mountain panorama.

      • 3,962 m
      • 15 minutes

Everest View Hotel is one of the highest hotels in the world and holds Guiness World Record. It is a luxurious hotel in the Everest region that offers modern comforts and top-class service.

The hotel is famous for its mountain views from all of its windows. You'll have a delicious breakfast, relishing the gorgeous landscape. After breakfast, hike down to Syangboche Airstrip to fly back.

      • 30 minutes

It's a short flight back to Lukla airport. We refuel the helicopter and take the last flight back to Kathmandu. During the refueling, you'll have one last chance to get out of the helicopter and enjoy being in the Himalayas.

      • 15 minutes
      • 2,860 m

Flying over the lush hills, rivers, and terraced fields, we turn to Kathmandu. While returning, you'll go over the Khumbu Glacier and the ancient Tengboche monastery. The chopper gradually begins to descend towards Kathmandu airport, where the trip ends.

      • 1,300 m
      • 45 minutes

Before you leave the airport, please take a few minutes to leave your feedback. It'll help you refine our service and provide a better helicopter tour to our guests. Our airport representative will drop you back at your hotel.

        Tour FAQs

        • Q1. Up to what altitude Everest Base Camp Helicopter Tour takes?

        • We land at Kala Patthar for 10 minutes. Landing more than 10 minutes can lead you to altitude sickness. Likewise, the pilots cannot turn off the helicopter engine. Because of the high altitude and thin air, restarting the engine is basically impossible.

        • If the helicopter tour to Everest Base Camp gets canceled because of bad weather, climate, or political disturbance, we refund 100% of the package cost. However, if the tour is canceled by the clients, we return a certain percentage of the total package cost depending upon the time left for departure.
